When serving the free they could ask you for food or for drink here is some note cards to read on how to serve.
GENERAL ONLINEISMS - To be avoided at all times
1. "servery" - recommended this is not used. There is no reference in the Books.
Simply use kitchen.
2. "Chilla" - does not exist.. this is purely an onlineism.
- Ice in many parts of Gor, particularly South & in summer months was scarce and expensive.
- Things were kept cool in shaded, low storage areas.
3. Knives - slaves were allowed to use knives in food preparation.
- The knives were not chained down.
- As with all 'pointy' things - it is the 'intention' of use that is crucial.
A slave must never use a weapon or implement to "intentionally" harm a Free person.
slicing fruit, cutting meat, vegetables or scaling fish.. doesn't really enter this realm!
4. Bota - is a portable animal skin to carry drinks such as water or paga.
- It is highly unlikely it would be used in Cities or more established dwellings.
5. "steps" of a serve. The only thing required in a serve is to kiss the side of the vessel
before offering it to the Free person. The area where the Free drinks from was not kissed.
(Who would want to drink from a vessel that a slave had slobbered on ?)
6. "sweeting" - slaves did not rub their genitals on the vessels in a serve.
7. "testing" - slaves did not test the rim of a vessel on their flesh. Also, slaves did not taste
or drink from the same side of the cup if offered.
Note " a private Owner 'may' require this but it is not traditional.
8. 'approaching/leaving' - 'generally' speaking slaves are not required to ask to enter a room
or to approach a Free person to serve. (unless specifically instructed to do so by a Free)
However, once engaged it is commonly expected that they will as for dismissal.
Note : there is no such verb as (to) kennel.
Some 'suggestions' on Drinks :-
• GOREAN ALE
stored: in a shaded storage area
kept in: keg
vessel: tankard or horn

• BLACKWINE (always warm or indeed hot! )
*Note : Black wine beans were Very rare and expensive - useful to RP this!
QUOTES:
"Thentis does not trade the beans for black wine. I have heard of a cup of black wine in Ar, some years ago, selling for a silver eighty piece. Even in Thentis black wine is used commonly only in High Caste homes...Originally, doubtless beans were brought from Earth, much as certain other seeds, and silk worms and such..."
page 107, Assassin of Gor
"....I had heard of black wine, but had never had any. It is drunk in Thentis, but I had never heard of it being much drunk in other Gorean cities...Then I picked up one of the thick, heavy clay bowls...It was extremely strong, and bitter, but it was hot, and, unmistakably, it was coffee..."
---Assassins of Gor, p 106
* Easy to remember types of Black wine serves :-
(F)irst Serve ..... "(F)attening - means it has cream & sugars (white & yellow)
(S)econd Serve .... (S)limming - means it is served black only
- Always ask how it is to be presented "first or second serve" and listen for any variations
that a Free might wish.
stored: Black wine beans were rare and VERY VERY expensive. It was therefore not 'usually' left
in a pot brewing on the hearth! The beans were generally locked up.
Preparation would involve selecting beans, wrapping in a rep, bashing to open
the beans, then 'brewing' them in freshly drawn and heated water.
vessel: mug or cup.
(always a ceramic mug/cup - think of how awkward serving a hot drink in a metal vessel, the
Free would burn their hands!)
Serving :
First serve/slave - Tray, kettle, ceramic mug/cup, bowls of sugars (white & yellow) 3 small spoons ( a spoon for each sugar type and one to stir)
Second serve/slave - Tray, kettle an cermaic mug/cup.
For Both: Get a small serving kettle, warm with freshly drawn & heated water (tip out), ladle the black wine into the kettle and set on tray, bring tray to feet and pour into mug.
• BAZI TEA (the tea exists in Gor but the ceremony is nonsense)
The ceremony is nonsense, onlineism.
(as a slave you could RP not understanding what the ceremony is and respectfully offer to

of the 'so called Bazi Tea ceremony)
Prep : Tea was also incredibly expensive. It is brewed in a copper pot, two ounces of tea leaves.
